Lesson #8

Under Construction!

Have you ever tried using reason and logic to convince someone of a particular point of view? You may have wondered why Logic didn't work with some people. While our brains may be "wired differently", hey, logic is logic, and reason should work. However, remember that people have a Rational AND Emotional side to their personalities (See Lesson #4 and Lesson #16).

[Story about "The Incident on King Street" vs. "The Boston Massacre" (1770), The July 8, 1775 letter to King George sent by the 2nd Continental Congress, and Attitude Escalation Prevention (Constitutional Convention 1787).]

"Learn from the PAST and Shape Your FUTURE!"tm
Quit beating your head against the wall!
Stop, step back, and use the "Judo Technique" (Mr. Peel's Student Survival Handbook)
If all else fails, "shake the dust off of your sandals and walk away".
"Where Attitudes are [still] in Conflict, Facts will not Convince!"

Why Study History? “We may profit by their experience without paying the price which it cost them.”  John Jay (1745-1829 A.D.) The Federalist, No. 5

Be Nice
!
This is the "Webmaster's" 38th year of teaching and he's probably "Spider Food" by now!
[A real slow learner (and eternal optimist) - he's still waiting for the 25th year recognition award!]

(6th Grade Humor.)
Summer 2008 - Itasca reworked it's website, which broke a bunch of links on our school website, which broke hundreds of Links
on my Seven websites. I'm still trying to find them all !   Please let me know when you find (another) broken link.
(Substitute "itasca.com/school" at the beginning of the broken URL with "itasca.k12.il.us" if you want to get to that page immediately.)
