Team7

WebMagtm

What is a WebMagtm ?
It’s Team7’s unique interactive version of a Student-Created Magazine/ Newspaper article on the web! Students may also create their own questions which will turn their article into a mini-WebQuest!

As an Example: The student title might be Declaration Accepted! (Hyperlink inserted.) And the body of the student article might say that “Today, July 4, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was officially adopted by the 2nd Continental Congress.  It is reported that Thomas Jefferson, (Hyperlink to Monticello inserted) Ben Franklin, and John Adams were the major authors of the Declaration . . . .”

You must be connected to the internet to follow these links. If you are viewing this page in Microsoft Word…Place the cursor over the colored text, hold down the “control” key, and click the mouse to go to the various sites.

TEAM 7 teachers have over 100 years of experience in helping middle school students reach their academic, social, and emotional goals. They’re sensitive to a middle school student’s need to belong or “blend in” and the need of talented students to be challenged.

Some of the activities are available to all students who have mastered the basic material. Other activities are exclusive to talented and gifted students. All of the activities involve higher level thought processes/skills.

The Team 7 curriculum is designed with Differentiated Instruction as the core component.  Different levels of activities and questions are given for each unit of study. Many times students don’t realize that they are actually completing T.A.G. Activities!

Recently, when a T.A.G. student was asked how she liked doing the enrichment activities, her response was, “They’re challenging, but fun!”  (J.W.)

Technology plays an important part in drawing T.A.G. students into higher levels of performance. Whether they are using Avid DV Express to edit the Itasca Historical Society digital video, creating Multimedia Presentations using PowerPoint and Macro Media, or using T.A.G. online resources to complete an assignment . . . T.A.G. students are engaged learners!

T.A.G. Multimedia Project Rubrics are used to assess student performance as students demonstrate their projects to their peers.

The Stock Market Gametm is an example of an interdisciplinary multi-layered activity in which T.A.G. students learn to take it to another level. They learn how to research a stock’s Beta in Value Line, current assets vs. liabilities in the Standard & Poor’s Stock Guide, and P/E ratios online and in the newspaper.

Ten thousand (mostly High School) students play the game in Illinois each year. Team 7 has less than one percent of the students in this Economics contest and, statistically, should win only once every one hundred years. Yet, our Team 7 students have won 1st, 2nd, or 3rd EIGHTEEN TIMES IN TWENTY YEARS!

T.A.G. students may COMPACT selected units of study in which they test out of, so that they can do EXTENSIONS which are challenging (and hopefully fun!)

Be Nice
!
This is the "Webmaster's" 38th year of teaching and he's probably "Spider Food" by now!
[A real slow learner (and eternal optimist) - he's still waiting for the 25th year recognition award!]

(6th Grade Humor.)
Summer 2008 - Itasca reworked it's website, which broke a bunch of links on our school website, which broke hundreds of Links
on my Seven websites. I'm still trying to find them all !   Please let me know when you find (another) broken link.
(Substitute "itasca.com/school" at the beginning of the broken URL with "itasca.k12.il.us" if you want to get to that page immediately.)
