Dear Parents,
Here is some sample dialogue that you can use with your Middle School student.
"Homework Dialogue"
Parent, "Do You Have Any Homework"?
Student, "No"
or "I got it done in class".
Parent, "Great, then
you can . . . "
For Science - Mr. Larsen
. . . get out your spiral ring notebook of Science Vocabulary and I'll
quiz you."
For Social Studies - Mr. Peel
. . . go to www.HistoryClassroom.com
and take the Practice Test Online.
Also try the Social Studies Online Skills Test and then let me check
your workbook pages to make sure that you're keeping up and not waiting
until the last minute to finish."
For Math - Ms. Kaye
. . . go to www.aSliceOfPi.com to
double-check the assignment and then try some of the online Math Learning
Games."
For Language Arts - Mr. Poremba
. . . finish reading your novel and start on the book report that is due
___.
We'll discuss what you read in thirty minutes at --:-- p.m."

Students sometimes feel that if it isn't due the next day, it's not
"Homework".
A Science project due in three weeks, a Language Arts book report, or Social
Studies workbook pages due in one week don't "qualify".
As the parent of identical? twin middle school boys, the
"webmaster" has experienced first-hand the unique approach that middle
school students often take towards "homework" projects. One son feels
that long-term projects must be completed before the start of school the
next day. The other son waits until the last night (or weekend) before it
is due to start on the project.
There is a tendency on the part of the "webmaster" to feel that one
son gets too little homework and the other son gets too much
homework! Yet, they are both excellent students, attend the same school,
and have the same teachers! Identical? How each individual student
paces his projects affects the "webmaster's" perceptions. Thankfully,
they're beginning to learn how to pace "homework" projects, working on them a
little bit each night.

Projects" to see what's coming up in future months.)
Information on this website is available 24/7 and is updated regularly.
As an added value service,
several teachers personally finance and maintain their own website(s)
that contain weekly assignments and additional classroom information.
